I used genki for 2 years in University. Its great for basic sentence structure and basic vocabulary but, dont use it as your only source of learning. Especially if youre wanting to speak more natively. Youre going to come off sounding very robotic.

I recently went to an immersion program and they use とびら. It doesn't pin-hole you N5 or N4 like the JLPT but gives you a solid foundation to build from.
