「ともなく」
1. Describe an action done unconsciously, without a clear purpose or intention. It is often used with verbs indicating will such as 聞く (to listen), 見る (to see), 話す (to speak). The verb before and after 「ともなく」is repeated.
When used with question words like いつから (since when), どこ (where), 誰 (who), it expresses the idea of uncertainty about when/where/who... With this meaning, 「ともなく」can be replaced by 「ともなしに」.
