けれど is a conjunction.
Nghĩa
Used at the beginning of a sentence, expressing the idea that the subsequent event is different from what was predicted from the events presented earlier. Compared to 「しかし」, it has a slightly conversational tone. However, it is also used in written language with an informal style.
